I'm going to make up two sentences below.
(1) His birthday is coming up soon. We will set up a birthday party for him. So, we need to contribute $ 20 to / for / towards his party.
(2) We are planning to buy a Christmas gift for our teacher. We need to help $ 10 to / for / towards a gift.
Could someone please explain what do you want to contribute? Do you find any other grammar mistakes in the sentences?
I did not find the right solution from the Internet.
